Our Mission

Our mission at Black History Class is to educate, empower, and inspire all students of all backgrounds by providing accessible, high-quality multimedia content focused on Black history and culture. Our EdTech platform seeks to fill the educational gap in traditional curricula by offering comprehensive, engaging, and inclusive content that highlights the contributions, challenges, and achievements of Black people throughout history.

Our Principles

Black History Class is a much-needed solution to the underrepresentation of Black history and culture in today’s classrooms. The following are our key principles that represent our educational goals for students and teachers across the nation:

  1. Black history is an integral part of world history, not just the history of Black people.

  2. Black individuals and communities have made significant contributions in every field, including STEM, literature, art, politics, and civil rights.

  3. Many misconceptions, stereotypes, and biases about Black people stem from a lack of education or exposure to their true history.

  4. A society that understands and values the history of all its members is more likely to be cohesive and harmonious.
